A son of sorrow. A prisoner. A warrior. Tauro is a man weathered by the hardships life has placed in his way. A desire for strength propels him into a life he never expected and challenges with little reward. His cruelty focuses and guards him. He believes the world is meant for the conquering and intends to place his mark on it.
A student of swords. A prince. A youth. James is still learning what it is to be a man. Life appears easy but his mom’s illness coupled with the new responsibilities of royalty force him to encounter the travails of adulthood. Journeys and new paths stand open to him but naiveté along with arrogance thrust him into an unfamiliar world. He too hopes to place his name among other legendaries in the pantheon of history and myth.
Oar. A place unknown to some. A place common to others. It is a city with a great history and an empire with rising power and influence. For this reason there are those who desire to control it and others willing do whatever to protect it. Unbeknownst to those who occupy Oar change is on the horizon.

Since I’m one of the first reviews and the ones I’m seeing are rather vague, let me be the first to give a more robust review of the novel. First, let me say that I thoroughly enjoy fantasy and have been an avid reader of the genre for many years. Having said that, this novel is remarkable for at least two reasons: (1) as far as I can tell, this is the author’s first published work of fiction and (2) this book is really good. If this is truly the author’s first foray into the fantasy business and his first is quite good, we can only expect better things from him as time goes on.With that said, the story begins with a character named Tauro who quickly becomes a central figure. The realism of the characters becomes quickly apparent as, quite frankly, I was teetering on whether to hate or to love Tauro. His actions were infuriating at times, yet understandable. Tauro’s life was marred with struggle, with pain, with a yearning desire to overcome. This desire, however, was never satiated and Tauro did not just overcome but he was led, it seems, to a desire to overthrow. He wanted to rule. We are also introduced to another character named James, he was a prince-to-be and rather than desiring a hand in the kingdom his position was thrust upon him by the circumstances of the oligarchical council that ultimately determined the King of Oar, his father.
We are introduced to many character perspectives as the story moves forward, showing the inner struggles of a prosperous Kingdom. We learn of a great warrior turned priest, of an unknown beast (werewolf-like) that lurks in the forest, of magic long hidden yet held in secret by tribes of ancient origin. All these small adventures are swelling, burgeoning, and ultimately leading to a clash I feel inevitable between a King chosen and a man, Tauro, hell-bent on rule nonetheless.
A great read and I am awaiting with great anticipation the next installment.

The Kingdom of Oar Three Ring Saga Book 1 edition by Patrick I Carlson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Did not expect to get stuck in this novel, true page turner. If your looking to get lost in a book, this is definitely it.
It was a great and entertaining read. I'm looking forward to part 2 and will recommend this book to my friends.
If you're looking for a book that captures your imagination within a great plot story, look no further. This a great book to read on your free time, the character progression is something I look forward to in the following books. Definitely recommend this book!
The overall storyline is interesting and made me want to find out what happens to some of the characters at the end of the book. However, the editing in the version is awful and distracting. The author's style of writing feels a bit unpolished, but it's a good start.
Great new author! Have not finished the novel yet but I'm about halfway through. So far, so good. Book has been suspenseful and there are some characters that I really like. I'm hoping to finish the book soon and that there will be another one coming allowing soon as well!!!
There are many works of fiction out there, but few that stand above the rest. Carlson really draws you into a new type of fantasy epic. The characters are multi-dimensional, the dialogue isn't cliche like many other books in this genre. I found it to be a fascinating story. Well worth the money!
This book has everything you look for in a great fantasy! Compelling Characters, interesting cultural exploration, vivid and descriptive landscapes, and plenty of plot twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Definitely worth the read!
